Alice In Wonderland- Who Was Alice?
‘Will you walk into my parlour?’ said the spider to the fly,
‘ ’Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy,
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I’ve got many curious things to show when you are there.’
‘Oh, no, no,’ said the little fly, ‘to ask me is in vain,
For whoever goes up your winding stair can ne’er come down again.’
Alice is the main character of the book Alice in Wonderland and is said to be based on Alice Liddell, a child friend of Carroll’s. Alice is said to be 7 and a half years old and is portrayed as a quaint logical little girl, but much more mature than her given age.
In popular culture, she is depicted wearing a pale blue knee-length dress and a white pinafore over-top, and in “Through the looking glass” she wear a wide ribbon in her hair which some what came to be known as Alice Bands. This image became the most recognized version due to Disney’s Alice in Wonderland.
The character Alice has been a huge part of any little girls life and even in to adulthood, the character never grows old or boring, a true piece of genius literature.
